Alaskans Own Seafood: Website & Marketing

Alaskans Own is a non-profit Community Supported Fishery program. Customers receive a monthly share of seafood caught in Sitka, Alaska. All profits from Alaskans Own will go directly towards supporting fishery conservation research, initiatives to keep fishing access rights local and other efforts to ensure the health and longevity of Alaskan fisheries.

I migrated Alaskans Own’s website over to Shopify in 2018 and gave the site a fresh makeover. We wanted the voice of AO’s approachable, quirky, small-but-mighty team- several of whom are fish wranglers by day, AO fish packers by night- to ring true throughout the design and language on the site.

The goal of the project was to move AO over to a more sophisticated platform that could handle some of its nontraditional commerce needs (for example, subscription fees, charged monthly to customer credit cards, and a “sign in” system for customers to update, view, and change their subscription).
